Engaged in New Mexico
The Bisti Badlands in New Mexico at dusk created an other worldly engagement session.
Sunshine on a snowy day
A little look back at our fall trip to Albuquerque. Hiking and river exploring were on the agenda.
It’s currently snowing here in Minnesota (after a week of -30 degree temps) and while the warmer weather in the single digits is a welcome change, it still feels like winter will never end. So, I decided to share some photos from our trip to New Mexico this past fall when temps were in the 60s and the sun was shining.
This was one of the first trips I took with one of my new lenses, so naturally I toted my camera with me everywhere we went. I’m not one who enjoys outdoorsy things, but if I can get a good photo from a hike, count me in!
We did a hike up to Sandia Peak in Albuquerque around sunset and were not disappointed! I love cool tones in photos and the sunset on the white mountaintop was perfect. There’s also this cool little stone house at the top that you can explore and climb around (just watch out for the edge of the mountain). That day was actually a little chilly for ABQ - temps were around 50 by the time we reached the peak, so it was pretty deserted and we had the space almost completely to ourselves! You can look out over the city and sit on the edge and watch the sun set. Just beautiful.
My sister, who lives in ABQ, and I took my little guy down to the Rio Grande for some exploring. He absolutely loved it. Unlike his mama, he loves exploring the outdoors and climbing around. He threw sand and rocks into the water and ran around looking for flowers and plants. A few times he ventured near enough to the water where he almost fell in, but thankfully caught himself.
Because she lives in another state, Ronan doesn’t get to spend as much in person time with my sister we we’d like (though we do FaceTime often). Loved getting to capture these sweet moments between the two of them. Also love the almost metallic look that was going on down by the river! The trees had a golden/yellow/almost white look to them and the editing process I used pulled those colors out even more. I am obsessed!
I’ll leave you with one last snap of my sister. She loves her hats and is always up for an adventure and I feel like this photo captures a bit of that spirit ◡̈
